Poll Cover or Ghuchi from India

Poll Cover or Ghuchi from IndiaThis is a neck cover for a horse from Northern India. These decorations would be used during wedding ceremonies and other formal occasions.

Some of the finest work is made in Sind. This is a particularly good example of a short poll cover with a nearly full complement of mirror. The brightness of this piece would be stunning in the Indian sunshine.

The quality of its needlework is very fine and it is very good condition which is rare. 21” (51 cm) x 1’ (31 cm).

Provenance purchased from John Gillow for Private collection, 2008 approx value £185.
