Horse Bit from PakistanThis double ringed snaffle was purchased in Pakistan. It is a combination of iron and brass.

The spiked rollers once moved but are now siezed up completely. It was have been quite a hard bit and would have torn the horses mouth if used harshly. Which one rather suspects it was.

This style of mouth piece goes back thousands of years and was common in Central Asia. In the Achaemenid period of 539 – 331 BC

Size 5” (13 cm). It is difficult tp date this particular bit.

Provenance: gift from John Gillow by Private collector 1990’s approx value £30
