Teke Tribe Riding Jacket

Teke Tribe Riding JacketThis is a very good example of the decorated riding jacket worn by the Teke tribe in Turkmenistan. This would be belted.

The cuffs on this jacket are particularly fine and beautifully decorated with the same motifs found in their carpets.

This one is very silky and probably quite old. It is very long but would still be worn riding. They hitch them up and put a belt around them.

Provenance; purchased in the Tolkuchka Bazaar, 1998 by private collector. Approx value £200
