This delightful piece is so very typical of the Staffordshire ware. Staffordshire pottery figurines were made from the 1800’s through to the 1900’s. This bucolic scene is part of the tradition of the picturesque in English art. This one may well be a copy as there is a lack of quality, but the spirit is there.

This is probably a copy of a Han horse. The Han Dynasty in china lasted approximately from 206 BC to 220 AD, in China and one in which many of the styles of the design of artifacts changed little in hundreds of years. This horse resembles those found the tomb of the Emperor Qin Shihuang,
