Iron Statuette of a Horseman from India

This is a very stylized statuette. The horse’s legs are bowed outwards, his tail and neck are also curved the neck decorated.

Both man and horse are highly decorated. The man holds a baton and is leaning right back against the horse. The significance of this is not clear. This may be very old and is possibly iron.

7” 18 cm x 6” 16 cm.

Provenance purchased by Dale Durfee in Rajasthan 1997. On loan.
