Jockey: Arthur Wragg
Arthur Wragg has ridden consistently well in Mr. J.S. Austen’s colours, among his wins for him in 1935 being the Gorleston Maiden Nursey Handicap, Yarmouth on Forward, and Haydock Park Handicap on Trustee.
Youngest of the three jockey brothers (see also numbers 9 and 28 of this series), Wragg was born in Sheffield in 1912. He served his apprenticeship with Stanley Wootton at Epsom, and soon gave evidence of his riding ability.
He is especially successful in the handling of two year olds, as is shown by his wins on the sprinter Jim Thomas, winner in 1932 of eight races from eleven attempts and his six wins on Knighted in 1934.
