Jockey: E. C. Elliott
Charlie Elliott scored a popular win for M. M. Boussac in the valuable Middle Park Stakes, Newmarket, 1935 on his colt Abjer. For several seasons Elliott rode most of the winners turned out by J. L. Jarvis, to whom he was apprenticed, and in 1923 he dead-heated with Steve Donoghue (see No. 27 in this series) for the jockey’s championship.
He won the 1922 Ascot Stakes and Eclipse Stakes on Golden Myth, and the 1923 Derby on Call Boy. Elliott also won the 2000 Guineas (three times) and the Oaks (once). He now rides regularly in France.
