Jockey: Fred Fox

fred-foxFred Fox who will always be remembered for his success when first jockey to Aga Khan, won the Stewards Cup Goodwood in 1933 on Capt A.S. Wills Pharacre. He gained his first classic victory in 1911 on Mr J. A. de Rothchild’s Atmah in the 1,000 Guineas.

His other classic wind include the 2,000 Guineas with Diolite (1930) and Bahram (1935) and the Derby on Cameronian (1931) and the St Leger on Firdaussi (1932). In 1930 he won the jockey’s championship with 129 victories after a neck and neck race with Gordon Richards (see No 22 of this series.)
