Jockey: Willie Stephenson
Willie Stephenson rode Toward Point, owned and trained by Mr. Wallace Wyllie of Ayr, in four of his six races at Northern meetings in 1935. He gained his riding experience when apprentice to Maj. W. Beatty at Newmarket in 1926.
While still an apprentice he rode a splendid race in the 1927 Cambridgshire when on the 25 to 1 chance Niantic, he dead heated with Medal (J. Caldwell up, see No 32 of this series). He also won the 1929 Manchester handicap on Promptitude.
The tallest of the Northern jockeys Stephenson has no difficulty keeping down to a weight.
