Turkmenistan Silk Riding Jacket

This is a mans riding coat from Turkmenistan. The sash is silk and is Teke.

These coats are commonly worn in Turkmenistan and always when on horseback. There are six main tribes in Turkmenistan, Teke, Yomut, Saryk, Gukland, Ersari, Salor.

The Turkman flag has guls depicting the five main areas in Turkmenistan. Akhal, Mary, Lebap, Dashkhovuz and Balkan. These guls can be seen on their carpets and give a clue as to the tribe and where they are located. Guls change depending on marriage.
