Whip from Uzbekistan

The handle of this whip is made from wood carved into a hexagonal pattern and inlaid with silver triangles also cut with circles and silver rectangles.  The whip is fixed with rawhide carefully platted and the whip itself is made from hide and laced with fine rawhide.  This is set into the wood with a leather triangle.  The handle is 11 1/2 inches long and the whippy end 13 inches.  It would be raised up high and swung the movement of which would be enough to encourage the horse to go faster.  This was donated to the museum by Ginty Conacher.
